Workshops

What Workshops

I am looking at the role of the artist and the artwork as bridgemaker and shuttle between various constituencies involved in site or situation. I practice internationally in public asking questions about long-term issues, and building creative arguments around the ideas of democracy and sustainable convivial futures. My art often involves the issues of money, migration, surviving, work, societal visions and participation models. Consequently my work as an artist and educator as well as facilitator deals with creative forms of listening and negotiation as well as a horizontal approach of communication between all present people in settings. I am regularly using my own, but also Open Space and other Art of Hosting methods. I am a great fan of the Social Presencing Theatre by Arawany Harayashi. I love the dialogue practices by David Bohm. I practice the embodied methods by Siegfried Essen. The public address systems by Lois Weaver have a huge impact on me.

My Approach

I am an artist, I learn through creative situations and that is what I share through teaching. I am a artistic researcher, a trained non-violent conflict consultant as well as an art of hosting and open space facilitator. I hold the middle ground between theory and practice. I achieved a PhD about this interface between art and civil society in 2012. From 2007-2012, I developed and led the Art in Public master programme at the University of Ulster in Belfast together with Dan Shipsides. From 2006 until 2012 I was a member of the Research Center Interface at UU. Before, from 2005-2006, I taught at the international master programme ‚Public Art and New Artistic Strategies‘ at the Bauhaus University Weimar.  I am trained in Art of Hosting (2015), as Systemic Constellation Facilitator (2013-14) and Open Space facilitator (2008) as well as a professionally trained conflict consultant (2004).
